History Quotes
We can learn from history how past generations thought and acted, how they responded to the demands of their time and how they solved their problems. We can learn by analogy, not by example, for our circumstances will always be different than theirs were. The main thing history can teach us is that human actions have consequences and that certain choices, once made, cannot be undone. They foreclose the possibility of making other choices and thus they determine future events.
-Gerda Lerner
History, we can confidently assert, is useful in the sense that art and music, poetry and flowers, religion and philosophy are useful. Without it -- as with these -- life would be poorer and meaner; without it we should be denied some of those intellectual and moral experiences which give meaning and richness to life. Surely it is no accident that the study of history has been the solace of many of the noblest minds of every generation.
-Henry Steele Commager
Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.

If I were just coming out of high school, I do not think that i would enlist in the Armed Services right away. The reason why I wouldn't is because I would be afriad to lose my life at such a young age!
I agree with mary.. the thought of going to war scares me and if i had a choice to wait i would take it!
Ok, this would be a hard decision for me! I wouldn't want to lose my life or even have to worry about that. On the other hand, I would feel like I had to in a way!!! If all of the other boys/men were joining and I didn't i would feel a lot of pressure!!!
sorry!!! i didnt say that is was Sarah Lenz above!!!! (the one w/ the hard decision...)
oops! sorry!
I agree with Mary, Kari, and Sarah. It would be so scarry to know that you could die. I wouldn't want to risk loosing my life at such a young age.
On the other hand, as Sarah pointed out, I think that you would feel alot of pressure if you didn't enlist. People would think of you as a coward.
It would be a really hard choice.
I wouldn't enlist in the army right away. I would take a year off before I did so I could get more time to get used to not being in school.
I wouldn't be as excited, because I would rather spend my time with family and friends, not around bombs, guns, and deathly gas.
